Wheeling Hospital Spreads the Warmth

December 3, 2012

Spreading warmth this winter for area residents of all ages is the goal of The Hand Center at Wheeling Hospital. Each year, the center collects donated gloves, mittens, hats, scarves and ear muffs from hospital staff, patients and visitors and places them on the Mitten Tree. Just before Christmas, the items are given to the Salvation Army and Catholic Charities for distribution. Last year, the project garnered more than 250 items. Placing gloves on the tree is Suzanne Holsen, center director. The Hand Center’s certified therapists treat hands, wrists, elbows, shoulders and necks.
