September 15, 2017
WHEELING – Wheeling native Dr. Loren Kaiser, pediatrician, has joined the staff of Wheeling Hospital.
Kaiser, a graduate of Wheeling Park High School, earned a bachelor’s degree in biochemistry at West Virginia University, where she was an Honors College graduate. She received her medical degree at WVU, and her residency was served at WVU Medicine’s Department of Pediatrics.
During her residency, Kaiser was highly involved in working to improve the pediatric curriculum and teaching, as well as the day-to-day functions of the department, with a focus on improving patient care. She was the Pediatrics representative to the hospital-wide Resident Forum, formed to work with the hospital administration to improve resident life and goals.
Kaiser also has performed residency work involving health care disparities, particularly those involving West Virginia families and rural communities. Most recently, she made a presentation on how social media affects parenting choices of the modern-day family. Kaiser said one of her interests in pediatrics is counseling new moms.
“I’m very excited to be back home in Wheeling with my husband, Jeff, and our son. I look forward to taking care of area youngsters and being involved in children’s projects throughout the community,” Kaiser said. “I had a wonderful childhood here, and now that I’m an adult, I hope to help foster the same environment for area children today.”
She has joined the practice of Dr. Judy Romano, director of Wheeling Hospital’s Center for Pediatrics. Also in that practice are Dr. Mary Hammond, Dr. Sheela Rao and Dr. Brian Vaske, who also is a pediatric hospitalist
Kaiser is currently working in the Wheeling Hospital office, located in Tower 3, Suite 221. Call 304-243-8850.
