Wheeling Hospital Residents Lend a 'Hand' to Mitten Tree

January 9, 2018

Wheeling Hospital’s Family Medicine Residency program is helping spread warmth this winter to many area residents. Each year during the holidays, the Hand Center at Wheeling Hospital collects gloves, mittens, hats, scarves and ear muffs and places them on the Mitten Tree, which is located at the Hand Center. Each of the 24 residents were given a pair of gloves and asked to multiply them for the drive. The result: nearly 250 pairs of gloves added to the tree by the residents. The winter items were donated to Catholic Charities in Wheeling and distributed to those in need. From left are: Dr. Angel Bermudez; Brooke Reilley, occupational therapy assistant; Dr. James Comerci, Family Medicine Residency Program director; Drs.. Biana Manchik, Camille Noble and Jena Uvalle; Suzanne Holsen, Hand Center director; and Dr. Brittany Phala.
