XTO Helps Students Attend CRC

December 20, 2018

High school students throughout Ohio and Belmont counties, who are member of the Drug Free Club of America, will be able to attend any game at no cost during the 12th annual Cancer Research Classic (CRC) set for Jan. 4-5 at WesBanco Arena in Wheeling. XTO Energy is covering the admission cost for students who show their club membership cards at the door. The CRC features the nation’s top rated Catholic high school basketball teams and players. The CRC was founded and directed by Dr. Gregory Merrick of the Schiffler Cancer Center at Wheeling Hospital. Discussing XTO’s donation and the importance educating youth about the negative effects of drug use at a recent news conference were, from left: Martins Ferry Police Chief John McFarland, director of Belmont County’s Drug Free Club; Tom Burgoyne, director of the Ohio County Drug Free Club; Merrick; and Karen Matusic, XTO manager of Public and Governmental Affairs.
