Union Local Donates Furry Gifts

December 27, 2018

To kick off the school’s Relay for Life/American Cancer Society fundraising campaign, students from the Union Local School District donated more than 700 stuffed animals to Wheeling Hospital for pediatric patients and visitors. The event marked the beginning of their fundraising season. Students of all ages were asked to bring their stuffed donations to a football game where the toys were then collected. Union Local High School art teacher Lisa Marple coordinated the event as a way to bring happiness to the pediatric recipients. Kneeling are Ambur Tidrick, left, and Alexandria Moeller, both students at Union Local High School. Standing, from left, are: Tracy Barnhouse, Community Development manager, American Cancer Society; Marple; Emy Smolira, student; and Beth Zebick, Wheeling Hospital Community Education and Outreach coordinator.
