Parkinson’s Disease Support Group Scheduled – Topic: Nutrition

WHEELING – Parkinson’s disease patients and their caregivers can benefit through a support group session set for April 3.
The group is open to anyone who suffers from Parkinson’s disease, regardless of the physician or hospital they use. Each attendee may bring a support person.
The session will held 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. in the hospital’s conference rooms C and D on the first floor. The guest speaker will be Wheeling Hospital dietician Jill Spangler who will discuss the nutritional needs of Parkinson’s patients.
The facilitators will be physical therapist Diane Benson, speech therapist Amy Beaver and physical therapy assistant Sandie Conaway. They are certified in LSVT (Lee Silverman Voice Treatment), a unique program effective in treating Parkinson’s disease patients. In addition, Benson is certified in Parkinson’s Wellness Recovery.
