HCH Hosting Workshop on Children and Reading
July 22, 2019
CADIZ – “Bobby’s Books: Make a Difference in the World” is the topic for the next Lunch & Learn Workshop at Harrison Community Hospital (HCH) on Aug. 1.
Scheduled for noon-1 p.m. in the hospital cafeteria, the workshop will feature Wendy Lawlis, a Valley Hospice certified Bobby’s Books trainer. She will discuss how to use books to help build a child’s coping skills. Lawlis also has a bachelor’s degree in elementary education.
Using children's books can help kids deal with difficult issues, such as a childhood illness, death of a parent or grandparent, death of a pet or friend or even divorce and other family issues. Children's literature can be used as a springboard for conversations to give kids the chance to express their feelings and tell their own stories.
Lunch & Learn Workshops are held on the first Thursday of every month except December. The workshops are free to the public. Attendees may bring their own lunch or can purchase one in the Cafeteria. A snack and beverages will be provided. Reservations are not needed.
HCH is a division of Wheeling Hospital.
