Cardiologist Dr. Wurtzbacher Joins Wheeling Hospital

WHEELING – Wheeling native and long-time area cardiologist Dr. John Wurtzbacher has joined Wheeling Hospital. Beginning Jan. 6, he will see patients at his new location at 1021 Mount de Chantal Road, Wheeling.
Wurtzbacher completed his cardiovascular fellowship at WVU in 1980 and remained as an assistant professor in 1981. The following 17 years he was in a group practice in Morgantown. While there, he initiated the cardiac rehabilitation program at Monongalia General Hospital, and helped develop the hospital’s cardiac catheterization lab, interventional cardiology and heart surgery programs.
In 1998, Wurtzacher returned to Wheeling and private practice. He also began a 21-year association with Dr. Adel Frenn, and the late Drs. William Noble and Christopher Eskins.
He is board certified in cardiology and nuclear cardiology.
