WHEELING, WV – The May schedule for Wheeling Hospital’s childbirth education classes has been released, and participants will be “attending” the courses from the comfort of their own homes.

Through WebEx, the free classes will be live streamed and available on any smart device, including phone, tablet and laptop. Participants will be provided instructions on how to download the app. To register they only have to provide their email address.

So far, the schedule includes:
• May 4, 6-8 p.m., Breastfeeding Class. Instructors, Lexi Hess and Nicole Gallagher
• May 5, 6-8 p.m., Newborn Care Class. Instructors, Catherine Voegelin and Jennifer Bond
• May 9, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., Accelerated Childbirth Education. Instructors, Erin Capers and Kathy McFrederick

Wendy Cook, nurse manager in Labor and Delivery and Women’s Services, said, “We are contacting patients who are near their due dates, with names provided from the doctors’ offices. Amy Hicks, our unit assistant, will be scheduling the classes and registering patients.

“Class participants will be able to talk with the instructor as well as each other. They’ll be just like regular classes, but participants don’t have to leave home.”
