Wheeling Hospital’s Center for Audiology Relocates To New State-of-the-Art Facility
July 15, 2020
WHEELING, WV – Wheeling Hospital’s Center for Audiology has moved into a new state-of-the art facility in Woodsdale and will open on Monday, July 20. Outfitted with the latest equipment for testing and treating patients of all ages, the center is the new medical building built by ENTs Drs. Jeremy and Christopher Tiu for their otolaryngology practice.
Located in the 176 Anthoni Drive, next to Springhill Suites just off National Road, the 8,000-square-foot building is on the same site as the new Augusta Levy Learning Center. The two facilities will share 111 parking spaces.
Leading the Center of Audiology staff are Director Dr. Brandon Lichtman, Au.D, CCC-A, CH-TM; and Dr. Shayna Pettini, AuD, CCC-A. Also on the staff are rehabilitation assistants Brenda Maguire and Patricia Tracy.
“The convenience of our location serves both the ENT physicians, but also will be next door to the relocating Wheeling Hospital Center for Pediatrics, on the second floor of the Augusta Levy building,” Lichtman said. “Having this location will allow patients easier access with same-day appointment options, limiting the need for multiple appointments. Providing patients the highest quality of care with the least amount of multiple appointments is especially critical during this pandemic.”
The new audiology suite features a sound booth with new Visual Reinforcement Audiometry system for testing pediatric patients. The suite also has the most up-to-date Equinox audiometer with Titan otoacoustic emissions.
Ready to assist patients is the dizziness/balance testing with a combined electrophysiology suite (auditory brainstem response and electrocochleography).
Services include audiology testing for all ages, including infants; dizziness/balance testing; auditory brainstem response and electrocochleography testing; central auditory processing testing; cochlear implant testing and mapping; and hearing aid fittings and repair.
The Center for Audiology is the only center in the area that provides both a full diagnostic hearing center and vestibular center. This includes hearing testing, balance testing, dizziness assessment using videonystagmography, and is the only center using electrophysiology testing and Head Impulse.
The center is also the only one in the tri-state area whose audiologist holds a certificate in tinnitus assessment and management by the American Board of Audiology.
Lichtman specializes in pediatric audiology, vestibular assessment, hearing aid technology, counseling and patient management. He received his bachelor's degree is communication sciences and disorders at The College of Wooster in Wooster, Ohio, and his doctorate in clinical audiology at Nova Southeastern University, in Fort Lauderdale, Fla..
