Wheeling Hospital Off-Site COVID Testing Moving to Former Harmony House: City of Wheeling Donates Use of Former OVMC Facility
August 26, 2020
WHEELING, WV — Wheeling Hospital’s off-site COVID Testing Center is on the move and opens at its new location on Tuesday, Sept. 8. The drive-through center will be located at the former Harmony House, next to Valley Professional Center South at the old OVMC.
The site was secured through the generosity of its new owners: the City of Wheeling. Hours of operation will be 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. during the week and 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturdays. To reach the site, those being tested will drive up 22nd Street to behind the old Valley Professional Center South, turn left at the top of the hill and follow the signs.
While testing will still be done on an outdoor drive-through basis, the new location will provide indoor lab and amenities for the hospital staff.
“We would like to thank the City of Wheeling for allowing us to use this location,” said Wheeling Hospital CEO Douglass Harrison. “It enables our staff to be safe during the winter months and still provide a valuable service to the community.”
City of Wheeling Mayor Glenn Elliott said, “We are very pleased to be able to work with Wheeling Hospital to relocate its COVID Testing Center to the OVMC campus. This collaboration will ensure that a critical community resource during this global pandemic can continue through the winter months in a convenient location.”
Those wishing to be tested must first pre-register. A convenient way to do that is to go to WheelingHospital.org and click on COVID-19 Testing – Register Here. Those unable to register online may also call the hotline at 304-221-3995.
Meanwhile, the current location at Wheeling Park, which has been open since March 18, will continue to conduct tests through Labor Day, when it will be open 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
