Gastroenterologist Dr. Dorsey Retiring; Dr. Tannous Taking Over Practice at Wheeling Hospital

WHEELING, WV —Thomas Dorsey, M.D., long-time gastroenterologist at Wheeling Hospital, is retiring effective Sept. 30. Taking over his practice is Manhal Tannous, M.D., board-certified gastroenterologist. Dr. Tannous is now seeing patients in Dr. Dorsey’s former office.
“Wheeling Hospital is most grateful for Dr. Dorsey’s 30-plus years of dedicated service to the hospital, his patients and the community,” said hospital CEO Douglass Harrison. “And we know his patients will be in good hands with Dr. Tannous.”
Tannous was formerly with Southwest Gastroenterology Associates in Pittsburgh and Washington, PA, and affiliated with multiple hospitals in that area. Tannous treats all gastrointestinal conditions including reflux, ulcers, lBS, chronic diarrhea, constipation, Crohn’s Disease and ulcerative colitis. He also treats common bile duct stones and cholangitis, cirrhosis, gastrointestinal hemorrhage, inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), pancreas biliary disease and liver disease.
A graduate of Damascus University, Tannous completed his residency in internal medicine at the Cleveland Clinic Health System and a fellowship in gastroenterology at Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond.
Procedures Tannous performs include:
• Upper gastrointestinal endoscopy
• Esophageal dilation
Tannous is certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine and the American Board of Internal Medicine-Gastroenterology.
