Howard Long Wellness Center
The Howard Long Wellness center exists to provide comprehensive, medically based, high-quality education and fitness services to its members, allowing them the opportunity to achieve their maximum potential health, fitness and well-being. The wellness center is an instrument of Wheeling Hospital. It exists as a community benefit to improve overall health and diversify the hospital’s services.
About the Wellness Center:
The ultra-modern 55,000-square-foot Howard Long Wellness Center is a division of Wheeling Hospital and offers various facilities including cardiovascular center ( a variety of bikes, treadmills, elliptical trainers, rowers, Arc Trainers and Stairmasters), variable resistance equipment, indoor walking/running track, free weights, two racquetball courts, and a full size basketball court.
The Wellness Center is also equipped with a beautiful aquatic center that includes an indoor swimming pool (3 feet 6 inches deep the entire 25-meter length) and a Jacuzzi. Several water classes are offered daily for the novice and advanced levels.
One of the main drawing cards of the center is its outstanding aerobic group exercise program. Classes are offered as early as 6:15 a.m. and as late as 6 p.m. Participants can start out with the Learn to Step program and continue on to the advanced levels.
The Howard Long Wellness Center offers complimentary towel service, full-size lockers, hair dryers, day sauna and individual showers. Some of the additional services include child care, personal training, registered dietitian, pro shop and tips on healthy eating, as well as health and educational opportunities. The center offers various activities for area residents of all ages.
Joining the Wellness Center is as easy as 1-2-3.
- Stop by the center to complete necessary paperwork.
- New members who are 50 and older or who have a known medical condition must obtain written clearance from a physician to participate in wellness activities.
- Participate in a comprehensive orientation and General Fitness Assessment.
Hours of Operation
5:30 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday through Thursday
5:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Fridays
7 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Saturdays
8:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Sundays
Each member will receive a yearly allotment of complimentary guest passes to give to whomever they wish.
Individual membership - three passes
Couple membership - five passes
Family membership - seven passes
