Patients should bring their insurance card(s) upon admission to Wheeling Hospital. If the insurance provider requires precertification, patients or their physicians should contact the provider before admission. The hospital cannot assume responsibility for reduced payment by the insurance carrier if precertification is not provided.
Wheeling Hospital accepts many different insurance plans requiring co-payments from the patients when they receive medical treatment at the hospital. Since each insurance company pays differently, it is necessary that patients bring their insurance cards with them each time they receive treatment at the hospital. It is also necessary for co-payments to be made when patients receive service. Payments may be made by cash, check or credit card. The hospital accepts Visa, MasterCard and Discover credit cards.
Those with questions regarding co-pay should contact the Wheeling Hospital financial counselor at 304-243-3211 between 8:30 a.m. and 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. Those with questions regarding insurance should call the hospital at 800-626-0023 between 8 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.
Volunteers can be seen working in nearly 35 areas Wheeling Hospital, including Outpatient Registration, the Surgical Waiting area, the Gift Shoppe, the Mail Room, the Information Desk and everywhere in between. Volunteers assist visitors, patients as well as employees, and many spend hours answering phones, typing, filing and running errands.
